Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala served as the former Finance Minister of Nigeria under President Olusegun Obasanjo from 2003 to 2006 and under President Goodluck Jonathan from 2011 to 2015. She is currently the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), a position she has held since 2021. She began her career at the World Bank, where she worked for 25 years, rising through the ranks to become Managing Director, the second-highest position in the organization.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was born on June 13, 1954, in Ogwashi Ukwu, Delta State Nigeria. She was born into a royal family as her father was the then king of Ogwashi Ukwu. She is married to neurosurgeon Ikemba Iweala, and they have four children.
