Omah Lay, born Stanley Omah Didia on May 19, 1997, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is known for his unique blend of Afrobeat, R&B, and soul, and has quickly become one of the rising stars in the Nigerian music scene.
The singer was born and raised in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and comes from a musical family. His grandfather was a percussionist for the popular highlife singer Celestine Ukwu while his father was a drummer.
Omah Lay won the 2021 Headies Award for Next Rated Artist, a prestigious recognition for emerging talents in the Nigerian music industry. He has also worked with notable international artists, including Justin Bieber.
In 2020, the singer made headlines when he and fellow artist Tems were arrested in Uganda for allegedly violating COVID-19 regulations after performing at a concert. They were later released, but the incident brought significant attention to both artists.
