2Face Idibia also known as 2Baba, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, record producer, and philanthropist. He was born Innocent Ujah Idibia on September 18, 1975, in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. He is, however, of Idoma descent from Benue State and is one of the most celebrated artists in the Nigerian music industry.
He began his music career as a member of the now-defunct Nigerian music group Plantashun Boiz, alongside Blackface and Faze. The group was popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s. After the group disbanded, 2Baba launched a successful solo career. His hit single African Queen brought him international recognition.
2Baba has won numerous awards, including MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs), BET Awards, and other Nigeria Entertainment Awards (NEAs). The singer is married to actress Annie Macaulay-Idibia, and they have children together. He has also fathered several children with different women. In 2016, 2Face officially changed his stage name to 2Baba, which was given to him by his fans.
Fun fact: 2Baba’s hit song African Queen was the first video to be played on MTV Base Africa.
