Nigerian musician Wizkid was born on July 16, 1990, in Ojuelegba, Surulere, Lagos state, as Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun. He began making music at 11 when he released an album with a group of church friends known then as the Glorious Five.
In 2009, Wizkid signed a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E), a label owned by popular politician and singer Banky W. He went on to release his debut studio album, Superstar in 2011 which featured his hit single, Holla at Your Boy.
The singer collaborated with Canadian singer Drake for his song One Dance which broke multiple records. This eventually allowed Wizkid to appear on the Guinness World Record list as the first Afrobeats artist to appear on the famous list.
In March 2017, he signed a deal with RCA Records and released his third studio album. He has featured several artists in his career, including Tema, Arya Star, 2face Idibia, Sound Sultan and many others. He won his first Grammy Award in collaboration with Beyonce on the song, Brown Skin Girl.
Fun fact: Wizkid recorded his first song with OJB when he was just 11 Years Old, back then his Stage Name was “Lil Prinz.”
