Nigerian singer, Oluwashina Akanbi Peters was born on May 30, 1958, in Ogun state Nigeria. He is popularly known by his stage name Shina Peters and sings with a blend of Afrobeats and Juju. He taught himself how to play the piano before joining Ebenezer Obey’s band. He also sang with a variety of bands before going solo.
His album Ace went double platinum and was produced by Laolu Akins under the CBS record label. He was formerly in a romantic relationship with popular actress Clarion Chukwura and they are the parents of Clarence Peters, a famous Nigerian music video director and filmmaker. Aside from Clarence, Peters is also a parent to other children from his wife.
Fun fact: Popular singer Shina Peters was formerly a member of Ebenezer Obey’s band.
