Genevieve Nnaji is a famous Nigerian actress, producer and director. She is known for her works such as Lionheart, Ije: The Journey, Last Party etc. She was born on May 3, 1979, in Mbaise, Imo state Nigeria but was raised in Lagos state. Nnaji is the fourth child and was raised with eight siblings.
She attended the Methodist Girls College in Yaba, Lagos and the University of Lagos, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in creative arts. She has won several awards including the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2005. She also became the first actress in Nigeria to get an award.
She was honoured as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian government for her contributions to Nollywood in 2011. She has one daughter.
Fun fact: Genevieve Nnaji’s directorial debut Lionheart made her the first Nigerian filmmaker to have a movie acquired by Netflix.
