Olubankole Wellington popularly known as Banky W was born on March 27, 1981, in the United States. However, his family returned to Nigeria when he was five years old. Banky W’s musical odyssey began at an early age. However, he was no longer under the Modern Democratic Party but will work under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) umbrella. He again lost his ambitions to get a seat representing the Lagos’ Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in Nigeria’s House of Representatives. The Labour Party (LP) candidate, Attah Thaddeus won the seat for this election. Banky W acknowledged the outcome of the elections and said he was grateful for all that happened.

In 2017, Banky W had a successful skin cancer surgery on his shoulder and he shared this on his social media page.
After a few years of marriage and in a desperate search for a child, Banky W and his wife, Adesuwa welcome their son, Zaiah Wellington in 2021. They kept the pregnancy journey a secret until the child was born to the surprise of many of their fans. Banky W is a pastor at the Waterbrook Church in Lagos.
