Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P and formerly of the iconic duo P-Square, has opened up about deep-rooted family issues following his testimony against his elder brother, Jude Okoye, in a high-profile money laundering case.
Jude Okoye and Northside Music Limited are currently facing a seven-count charge filed by the EFCC, involving the alleged laundering of over N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59. Peter appeared before Justice Alexander Owoeye at the Federal High Court in Lagos to testify.
The day after his testimony, Peter Okoye took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post revealing he had endured more than 20 years of manipulation and betrayal within his family. He urged others not to suffer in silence under the guise of family loyalty.

“Love doesn’t manipulate, loyalty doesn’t betray, and family doesn’t steal from you,” he wrote. He added that any group that causes harm, shame, or ignores pain cannot be considered true family.
Mr P concluded by affirming his commitment to protecting his peace: “I will always put my mental health first.”
His candid revelation has sparked widespread conversation online, shedding light on the often-hidden struggles behind fame and family.
