Content creator and social media influencer, Amarachi Amusi, popularly known as Ashmusy, has revealed that failed relationships pushed her into freezing her eggs as a way of protecting her dream of becoming a mother in future.

Ashmusy said motherhood is very important to her, adding that she made the decision after experiencing serious relationships she believed would lead to marriage, only for them to end.

According to her, those disappointments forced her to confront the reality that finding the right partner may take longer than she had expected.

“I really wanted to secure my future as a mother. Motherhood is very important to me, and I want to be sure that I will become a mum in the future, no matter what happens,” she said.

The influencer added that she had gone through relationships she genuinely thought would end in marriage, but they did not work out.

She said the experiences made her realise that many men are not emotionally available or mature enough for marriage, despite appearing promising at the beginning.

“That made me understand that finding the right partner might take longer than I expected. Because of that, I decided to secure my future and play safe,” she said.

Ashmusy explained that she first heard about egg freezing after former Big Brother Naija housemate, Uriel, froze her eggs years ago.

She said Uriel’s decision stayed with her because it looked like a smart move for a woman who wanted to preserve her chance of becoming a mother.

The social media personality said she later researched the process extensively, asked doctors questions, searched online and studied how egg freezing works before making her decision.

She described egg freezing as a process where a woman’s eggs are extracted from the ovaries and stored in nitrogen until she is ready to conceive through IVF or artificial insemination.

Speaking on the emotions she experienced before making the decision, Ashmusy said she first felt panic, pressure and fear because she had always believed she would get married before turning 30.

However, she said turning 30 without marriage forced her into a place of acceptance and clarity.

“At first, there was panic, pressure and fear, but eventually I reached a point of acceptance. Once I accepted where I was in life, I found clarity and began to heal,” she said.

She added that the process left her feeling fulfilled, relieved and happy because she now has peace of mind over her future as a mother.

“It has given me peace of mind. I feel safe, secure and relaxed now. I can calmly take my time to find the right partner without feeling pressured by age or my biological clock,” she said.

Ashmusy also said the decision has changed her understanding of motherhood, though not her idea of womanhood.

According to her, a woman remains a woman whether she has children or not, but freezing her eggs made her feel that a part of her future had already been preserved.

Away from motherhood, Ashmusy also spoke about her recent trip to Zambia, where she took part in high-risk activities that tested her courage.

She said the trip helped her discover a brave side of herself and made her feel stronger mentally and physically.

“I never imagined I could do some of the things I actually did there. These were activities I used to see online and immediately say, ‘God forbid, I could never do that.’ But I did them,” she said.

Ashmusy said the experience made her feel “brave, powerful and unstoppable,” adding that stepping into fear has now become part of her personal growth.

The influencer also credited her mother as her biggest inspiration, saying watching her struggle to feed and raise her children shaped her definition of success.

She said her mother’s strength made her understand early in life that she had no choice but to succeed.

“My mother is my biggest inspiration. Watching her struggle to feed, train and sustain my siblings and I made me realise very early in life that I had no choice but to become successful,” she said.

Ashmusy also reflected on growing up as the first child, saying she carried heavy responsibilities from a young age.

She recalled cooking, cleaning, washing clothes and taking care of her siblings as a child, adding that she now realises she was forced to grow up too quickly.

“At eight years old, I already felt like an adult. It forced me to grow up too quickly,” she said.

The influencer said she only began to understand the effect of those childhood experiences in her early twenties, when she became more aware of the responsibilities she had carried from a young age.
