ward-winning Nigerian music star Davido has addressed the widespread criticism stemming from his recent comments in an interview.
Two days ago, the singer had warned Black Americans against relocating to Africa, citing economic challenges and asserting that Africa is not as glamorous as often portrayed.
However, Davido clarified that his intent was not to disparage Africa but to highlight its beauty while leaving out the slum-like areas in such representations.
The remarks sparked outrage, with notable personalities like Reno Omokri, Patrick Doyle, and Akashat Nymat publicly criticizing him.
In response, Davido took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to defend his stance and highlight his influence. The 2025 Grammy nominee dismissed the backlash, asserting his role as a “real ambassador” for Africa.
“Y’all mad ’cause we the Real Ambassadors,” he wrote. “The way my accent be for that interview dey sweet me. Very demure. Lmao @tvcng nah today?”
