Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has taken a swipe at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as a wonderful father to his son, Seyi Tinubu, but a disappointing leader to Nigerians.

In a recent interview on Channels TV, the outspoken rapper criticized the president’s performance, especially in tackling the nation’s economic crisis.

According to Abdulkareem, his latest controversial song “Tell Your Papa” was inspired by a video of Seyi Tinubu campaigning for his father, in which Seyi repeatedly hailed Tinubu as the best president. The rapper noted that Seyi’s public statements lacked depth and failed to reflect the harsh realities Nigerians are currently facing.

“Seyi looks better when he is silent than when he speaks,” Abdulkareem said. “He lacks the charisma to explain the true economic situation of Nigeria under his father’s leadership.”

Shortly after its release, “Tell Your Papa” was banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), which classified the track as Not To Be Broadcast under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. The commission cited the song as being offensive and in breach of public decency standards.

Despite the ban, the singer remains unfazed. He emphasized that President Tinubu has done well in empowering his son but has failed to do the same for ordinary Nigerians. “Tinubu is the best father to Seyi, but the worst president to Nigerians,” he stated. “There are no jobs, and people are struggling to feed.”
