1. Religion: Anambra is a Christian State and elections in Anambra are always reduced to religion battle between the Catholic and Anglican. The APC and APGA candidates are Catholic, while the PDP candidate is Angelican. That gives the PDP candidate an edge in this regard

IPOB: The Proscribed IPOB issue is another deciding factor. IPOB have declared a sit-at-home order earlier but backtracked yesterday and have asked people to go out and vote. This is expected to be an advantage to the APGA and a disadvantage to APC

Zoning: Unlike it’s in all elections, Zoning will not be an issue in this election. This is because the 4 leading candidates are not just from the same Senatorial District, they are equally from the same local government, Aguata L.G. APC candidate and YPP candidate are cousins and the immediate brother of the APC’s candidate, Chris Uba is a strong member of PDP. This could be a minor disadvantage to the APC candidate.

Power of Incumbency: This will work in favour of APGA and APC as APGA is the ruling party in the state and APC at Federal level. At least, 13 APC Governors have been in the campaign train of the APC candidate. Not much support was given to the PDP’s candidate from the PDP Governors however.
