Reports reaching Naijassador as of Thursday, September 26, 2024, that the Federal Government of Nigeria has officially started paying the new minimum wage to civil servants.
Bawa Mokwa, spokesperson for the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, confirmed this during an interview. He reassured workers that they would soon begin receiving payment alerts.
Earlier this week, the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC) announced that the payments would be retroactive to July 2024. This decision follows the approval of the minimum wage bill by President Bola Tinubu after the National Assembly passed it.
