Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has once again ignited a wave of online reactions after boldly declaring himself the best actor in Africa.
In a recent post on his Instagram page, the actor-turned-pastor claimed that numerous people have acknowledged him as the top actor on the continent, a sentiment he wholeheartedly agrees with.
“Many people are saying that Edochie is the best actor in Africa. Actually, they’re right. I AM,” the actor proclaimed in his post.
The bold statement, as expected, drew a wave of responses from social media users, with many expressing their disagreement and others adding a dash of humour to the controversy.
One user, Obirin Meta, reacted sharply, saying,
“Who and who? Best actor my foot. Always looking for a way to wake up your dead career. Shameless amu bingo.”
Another commenter, Zicoco2024, was equally unimpressed, writing,
“Yul Edochie, the failed actor.”
Ebiala Adoris added,
“Dey play. What makes you the best actor in Nigeria?”
Swiz5151 disagreed with Yul’s claim, stating,
“On this particular topic eh, I no go support you. You’re not even in the top 20 best actors in Africa.”
Josebeth Ibrahim added,
“Pride go kpai you,” while May Bliss95 quipped, “Who be the people?”
Despite the criticisms, Edochie has also received praise from fellow Nollywood veteran, Kanayo O. Kanayo.
In a recent video clip shared on social media, Kanayo hailed Yul’s talent, saying that whether or not people like him, they cannot deny that he is a great performer.
He lauded Yul’s ability to express his artistic talent through his voice and body, recognizing his candor on screen.
This is not the first time Edochie has publicly touted his own achievements.
Just last week, he bragged about his social media presence, claiming that he and his wife are the most entertaining couple on the internet.
