The entertainment industry is never short of drama, and this time, embattled actor Ijoba Lande has called out controversial singer Portable for turning his marital woes into a song.
It all started when Ijoba Lande accused his wife of infidelity, alleging that she had affairs with over 21 actors. The revelation triggered social media, with many reacting to the shocking claims. In response to the accusations, Lande’s wife admitted to her wrongdoing and publicly sought forgiveness.
While the dust was yet to settle, Portable, who is well-known for his knack for stirring controversy, decided to use Lande’s predicament as inspiration for a new song. In his usual didactic style, the singer turned the actor’s troubled marriage into lyrics, seemingly capitalizing on Lande’s misfortune.
Ijoba Lande did not take this lightly and blasted Portable for using his marital crisis as entertainment. In a video shared online, he reminded Portable of how he once broke down on social media when one of his wives was allegedly unfaithful.
In Yoruba, Lande was heard saying:
“Portable, I see all the nonsense you are doing. You are using my life story to sing. You will pay for it. When they slept with one of your wives the other time, you were crying all over the Internet.”
As expected, netizens have been divided in their reactions. Some agree with Lande, arguing that Portable’s action was insensitive. In contrast, others believe that as a public figure, Lande should have expected his personal life to become a topic of discussion.
This isn’t the first time Portable has been accused of making controversial music based on trending issues. The singer has built a reputation for being unapologetically vocal, often leveraging viral moments for his songs. While this strategy has earned him both praise and criticism, it remains to be seen whether he will respond to Lande’s outburst or let the controversy slide.
