The National Youth Service Corps has warned prospective corps members against using their personal funds for community projects.

The NYSC Director-General, Shuaibu Ibrahim, gave this warning on Monday during the nationwide virtual address to the 2021 Batch ‘C’ Stream two prospective corps members and camp officials.

A statement titled ‘Corps Members Tasked on Teamwork, Patriotism’ revealed that the DG also warned corps members against borrowing money to execute projects.

Rather, Ibrahim posited that prospective corps members should source funds within the community where the project would take place.

“Don’t borrow money or use your personal money to execute projects”, the statement quoted Ibrahim as saying.

Ibrahim advised the Prospective Corps Members that they should choose either personal or group projects that could be completed within the period of the service year.

During the address, the DG also tipped the corp members on how they can emerge as the winner of the NYSC Presidential award.

“For you to win the NYSC President’s National Hounours Award, your assessment starts from your first day in camp and you must have excelled in all the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC namely; Orientation Course, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service, and Winding-Up/Passing-Out,” Ibrahim said.
