Two 10-year-old Nigerian girls, Akachukwu Blessed Nwachukwu and Ifunanya Gabriella Okoye, are among the youngest innovators to win the Technovation Global Summit, a major international technology competition that draws participants from across the world.

The duo claimed the global title after emerging best among more than 33,000 participants from 117 countries, a feat that placed Nigeria firmly on the global technology map.

Their winning project, an AI-powered mobile application called “Stay Woke,” focuses on road safety by tackling driver fatigue and distraction. The app uses artificial intelligence to monitor driver behaviour in real time and issues alerts designed to prevent accidents before they happen.

The achievement drew commendation from Nigeria’s National Orientation Agency (NOA), which described the girls’ success as a powerful example of young talent backed by innovation and purpose. According to the agency, their work highlights the growing potential of Nigerian and African youths to develop solutions with global relevance.

Beyond the competition, their story reflects the impact of early exposure to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). It also serves as an inspiration to young girls, showing that age is not a barrier to participating in, and winning global technology platforms.

At just ten years old, Akachukwu Blessed Nwachukwu and Ifunanya Gabriella Okoye have demonstrated that Nigerian creativity and intelligence can compete at the highest levels, offering a glimpse into the future of technology driven by African innovation.
