Another police victim has speak up, narrating how he was kidnaped and threaten by Nigeria Police Force.
He explain how scared and messed up he was after they drop him off.
He Said:
Yesterday, I had the greatest scare of my life. I’m not sure if it’s something I can get off my mind anytime soon.
Around 7:05 pm, I dropped from a bike in Ibadan. I was wearing a lumberjacket and a jean, had my laptop bag with me and an empty keg of petrol.
As I turned into the street I was going to, an unknown man just double crossed me, grabbing my trousers and asked me what I was carrying in my bag. I responded that it contained my laptop, and before I knew jack, a white 14-seater bus was packed beside me.
The bus had 4 men in it including the driver. At first, I thought I was been picked up by kidnappers, only to find out that they were unscrupulous police officers who were engaging in their usual raid around that time. Next thing, I was pushed into this bus.
These men were not even listening, they were just keen on picking up people without any criminal offense. The very place were I was picked up was just opposite an electronics store. The owner of the store was someone I knew and had patronized.
When I saw that all I said was falling on deaf ears, I started shouting the man’s name but he didn’t hear. The first officer that picked me up got angry that I was calling for help, brought out a Taser and was about to put it on my body but I immediately put my bag across.
His colleague got angry and brought out a pistol. At this point, I was out of breath. And I started to wonder, will I just lose my life because I’m carrying a laptop bag? Will I lose my life to this very police brutality we’ve been fighting against? Just like that?
Nothing incriminating was found on me, just wicked souls parading as officers deciding to do just as they wish. And in a flash, I saw people shouting nearby already. When I looked back, some men had gathered and stood up to the police officers. They heard me while I shouting and
screaming for help. After about 5 mins of dialogue with the policemen, the men demanded that I be released. Grudgingly, two of the officers dragged me down from the bus and returned my laptop bag.
Upon getting down, I noticed that the very person that organized those men to stand up to the police was a shoe maker I once patronized. I went straight to his shop, thanked him, and sat there, thinking of what could have happened had these men not interfered.
I couldn’t leave his shop because I had the fear that they may still be lurking around. I called my dad to come pick up, he knew something was wrong immediately he heard my voice since I have never called him like that before.
I’m grateful to God for sending these men my way. Indeed, I’m the one the Lord has shown mercy. Grace found me! As much as I’m grateful, I’m also worried and concerned about the people who won’t get lucky like me. After they dropped me, they went on to raid different boys by just
picking them randomly. Nigeria is really a scary place and yesterday broke my heart. I’ve been trying to get it off my mind but instead it’s been stuck in my head. I don’t know if it’s ever going to go away. We can’t keep hoping Nigeria won’t happen to us. I’m honestly tired atm
I had to stay off social media yesterday. Even right now, everything still replays in my head. What about the people being picked up daily without anyone to stand up for them? What will be their fate?
