Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy has reacted publicly following his physical altercation with DJ Tunez, which occurred on Monday at Obi’s House, a popular weekly Afrobeats event in Lagos.

The confrontation reportedly began as a heated verbal exchange but quickly escalated into a physical scuffle. Social media tweeps alleged members of Burna Boy’s team joined the fray before bystanders intervened to restore order.

The exact trigger for the dispute remains unclear, though speculation online links it to long-standing industry rivalries, particularly DJ Tunez’s close association with Wizkid, often compared to Burna Boy.

Following the incident, DJ Tunez, also known as Ogbafia, reacted and posted a jab at Burna Boy, calling him a “coward” and referencing his album by posting “All Signs of Weakness”, a play on Burna Boy’s ‘No Sign of Weakness’.

Burna Boy responded with a mocking video in which he danced to DJ Tunez’s song “Money Constant”, featuring Wizkid, DJ Maphorisa, and Mavo. During the clip, he altered the lyrics from “Ogbafia dey my side” to “Ogbafia dey for ground”, falling dramatically — a gesture widely interpreted as a direct jab at DJ Tunez.

The controversy intensified on Tuesday when the Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) announced a temporary ban on Burna Boy’s music across DJs’ playlists nationwide.

“Burna Boy music is temporarily out of any of our DJs’ playlists till further notice,” the association said in a statement. “Our team will carry out a proper investigation on last night’s incident that happened to one of our own, DJ Tunez.”

The NDJ emphasized the need for professionalism and respect within the DJ community, adding that the investigation will determine appropriate next steps.
