ODOGWU: Burna Boy Breaks Another African Record on Audiomack

The Nigerian musician Burna Boy has achieved a new milestone in the Afrobeats genre by setting a record on the popular digital streaming platform called Audiomack.

The Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, and performer has become the first and only Afrobeats artist to surpass one billion streams on the platform, which is a significant achievement.

Despite not releasing any new music or album since 2023, Burna Boy has kept his fans excited by sharing snippets of upcoming songs, which has helped to maintain his popularity. He recently began his ‘Love Damini’ stadium tour, which started with a memorable performance in Paris, where he entertained more than 40,000 fans.

This performance reaffirmed his position as one of the best Nigerian performers of all time.

Burna Boy, whose birth name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, was born on July 2, 1991, in Ahaoda, Rivers State, Nigeria, as the first child of Mr and Mrs Ogulu.

Benson Idonije, his grandfather, was Fela Kuti’s manager. Burna Boy began making music at the age of ten.

For music production, he used FuityLoops software from his classmates.

Burna Boy formed a music band in secondary school and performed at concerts. He went to London to further his education, but he dropped out due to his love of music.

Burna Boy’s mother recognized his passion for music and secured him an internship at a radio station. Burna Boy made it a habit to go to the studio after work and record songs.

Burna Boy always kept a generator in the trunk of his car in case the studio’s power supply went out.
