Nigerian singer and actor Banky W has offered a candid glimpse into his marriage with actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, challenging traditional expectations about domestic roles and sharing deeply personal moments from their journey to parenthood.
Speaking during an interview on the Teju Babyface Show published on Thursday, the music star disclosed that contrary to common societal assumptions, he is the one who often handles cooking in their home.
“There are some men who insist their wives must cook, but my wife does not really cook, even though she can cook very well, it’s just not her thing,” he said.
Banky W explained that their arrangement is built on compatibility rather than convention, noting that while he enjoys cooking, his wife enjoys eating, a dynamic that works seamlessly for them.
“Some people come to our house and see me cooking and feel uncomfortable, but it works for us,” he added, urging couples to define their own standards rather than conform to societal pressures.
He stressed that marriages should not be governed by external expectations.
“What works for you will be different from somebody else. Don’t live your life by somebody else’s rules,” he said.
The singer also used the platform to commend his wife’s resilience during their struggle to have children, revealing the emotional and physical toll of multiple failed IVF attempts.
Reflecting on the period before the birth of their son, he recounted how Adesua endured repeated IVF cycles, showing remarkable strength despite setbacks.
