I Will Officially Ask For Nnamdi Kanu’s Release – Soludo Says


Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the Anambra State Governor, has talked about Nnamdi Kanu.

He said that he will make an official request for the release of the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Soludo stated this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

The governor had publicly said that he is ready to stand as a surety for the embattled IPOB leader.

Kanu is standing trial on terrorism and treasonable felony.

The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, had in an interview said that he had not received any application from Soludo to the effect.

But responding to the development, the former CBN governor said, “They (Federal Government) will receive that letter in few days’ time. And I am very serious about this.

“It’s not something personal. It’s about the life security and wellbeing of the entire South East. We need to be serious and get into this conversation. We want this election to go peacefully in the South East.

“We want everybody to participate. We want peace and security to return. We want a long time transformation for this place to secure and very prosperous component of Nigeria.

“But you need all the stakeholders around the table. I thank the president for his assistance with what they call the kinetic approach: the force, the shooting and all the armed forces. They have been helping us; but we need to bring this to a sustainable conclusion.”
