Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has shared the trauma he endured after movie producers repeatedly rejected him for roles, citing his face and body as reasons.
Speaking during an interview on Feelrightnews TV’s official YouTube channel, Salami recounted how the consistent discrimination and sidelining from producers pushed him to return to school.
“It was not easy at all during the time of our movie auditions because it was quite far from where I was living,” Salami recalled, describing his struggles in traveling long distances to attend casting calls. Despite his persistence, he was met with repeated rejections.
“For three years, I was given only one movie role,” he shared, highlighting the emotional toll the experience took on him.
The rejection that stung the most, Salami said, came when producers blatantly told him that his appearance was not suitable for the types of roles available. Due to his small face and slim build, producers often preferred actors with a more muscular physique.
“I cried when some producers said they couldn’t give me movie roles because of my face and body,” Salami admitted.
