The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, recently lauded former President Muhammadu Buhari for his contributions during his tenure as Nigeria’s leader.
During a two-day courtesy visit to Buhari’s residence in Daura, Katsina State, the monarch expressed admiration for the former president’s efforts and legacy.
In a statement shared Online, the Ooni emphasized Buhari’s resilience and achievements, describing him as a transformative leader who tackled numerous challenges.
The monarch noted Buhari’s experiences as both a military and civilian president, citing his deep connection with the northern populace as a unique strength that continues to benefit Nigeria.
Oba Ogunwusi remarked on Buhari’s post-presidency vitality, saying, “He looks 30 years younger and radiates good health and vibrant energy.” The monarch’s reflections suggest an enduring optimism about Buhari’s contributions to national development.
While many Nigerians acknowledge Buhari’s efforts, his presidency was marked by significant challenges, including economic downturns, insecurity, and criticisms of slow policy implementation. The Ooni’s comments raise a pertinent question: Did President Buhari truly do his best? Opinions remain divided, as his legacy will ultimately depend on how future administrations build upon his work.
