Popular Nigerian skit maker and livestreamer Carter Efe has come under intense public scrutiny following conflicting accounts surrounding the collapse of his relationship with his baby mama, Emmanuella, amid allegations of domestic abuse, emotional manipulation, and opportunism.

The controversy erupted after Carter Efe took to Instagram and X to announce that he and Emmanuella had been separated for over a year. He described the period as one filled with emotional distress, financial hardship, and creative stagnation.

According to the content creator, Emmanuella allegedly blocked him for about five months and only resurfaced after his recent rise as a Twitch streamer, where he gained wider recognition through collaborations with international creators, including American rapper and streamer DDG.

Carter Efe claimed that the prolonged separation affected both his personal life and career, attributing his eventual breakthrough to resilience during what he described as his lowest phase.

In a series of emotional Instagram Story posts, the skit maker alleged that the relationship ruined his mental state and finances.

“This lady has frustrated my whole life to the extent I trend every day for beating a lady. For good two years I lost everything. I lost my mindset, I couldn’t think or shoot content, I got broke,” he wrote.

He further alleged that he was unable to see his child for several months, adding that relocating away from Emmanuella helped him regain stability and happiness.

“These days you guys noticed I’ve been happy and active. It’s because I was able to move away since. I’m aggressively active. God is good,” he added.

Carter Efe also accused Emmanuella of returning only after his career gained momentum, describing her actions as opportunistic. He detailed alleged struggles, including living in a single room with his team before being evicted, while crediting faith and determination for his current success.

However, his claims were publicly challenged by influencer JoJo of Lele, who accused Carter of repeatedly abusing Emmanuella and forcing her out of their home on several occasions.

The situation escalated after activist and social media influencer VeryDarkMan shared videos of Emmanuella appearing emotionally distressed, with visibly swollen eyes. In a post addressing the issue, VeryDarkMan reiterated previous accusations against Carter Efe.

“I called him a woman beater… I specifically said he beats his wife,” he wrote, urging Emmanuella to speak out.

The videos sparked widespread reactions online, with some users interpreting her appearance as a sign of emotional trauma, while others viewed the footage as corroborating allegations of abuse. Carter Efe has not directly responded to the videos.

Amid the backlash, Emmanuella released a video on Instagram on Monday, disputing Carter’s claims and offering her own version of events. She stated that they had been together just days before his public posts and accused him of misrepresenting the state of their relationship.

“We were literally together three days ago. We have a baby together, and for you to cater for your child, I have to come to you before you can give me money, even though you say we aren’t together anymore,” she said.

She further alleged that Carter restricted her personal freedom and professional growth, claiming he prevented her from working, pursuing acting opportunities, and maintaining close relationships.

“He blocked all my female friends because he knows I would confide in them. He made sure I kept my family away,” she alleged.

Emmanuella also claimed that Carter threatened her before making his social media posts.

“He called me this morning and told me he was about to post something calling me a prostitute and that he would make sure I don’t ever post myself again,” she said, adding that he claimed ownership of her social media platform.
