Gboyega Awoyinka, 42, has been remanded at a correctional facility for allegedly raping Rhoda Adeboye, a woman with mental disabilities, inside a cocoa farm.
Awoyinka was accused of committing the crime at Kajola-Ojurin, Ore axis in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
He pleaded not guilty to the one count case of rape that was brought against him.
Inspector Jimmy Amuda, the police prosecutor, requested permission from the court to transmit the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, office for legal counsel.
In anticipation of the outcome of the DPP’s legal advice, the presiding Magistrate, B. A. Ikusika remanded the defendant to the Okitipupa Correctional Center.
The case was subsequently adjourned till 30, 2022.
