Popular Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma has revealed deeply personal insights about his strained relationship with his late father, attributing their issues to a cycle of generational negativity.
Speaking during the inaugural live edition of the WithChude podcast, Bovi described how his father passed down a pattern of negative energy, something he believes had been inherited over generations. He called it a “family pattern” or what some might consider a “generational curse.”
Bovi shared that he made a conscious decision to break the cycle by detaching himself emotionally, but ultimately chose forgiveness. “Long before he passed, I had already forgiven him,” he said, adding that he cared for his father with genuine love during his illness from 2021 until his death in February 2025.
The comedian’s candid reflection has sparked conversations about emotional healing, family trauma, and the power of forgiveness.
