Popular Nigerian comedian AY Makun has come under scrutiny after being called out by luxury Instagram page T20Luxury for allegedly showcasing a fake Hermes bag.
The comedian had earlier shared a photo of himself rocking the designer piece, but T20Luxury, known for reviewing high-end fashion items, quickly pointed out discrepancies between his bag and an authentic Hermes design.
In a post comparing AY’s bag with the original, the luxury page urged him to set a better example by avoiding counterfeit products.
“As a key stakeholder in the entertainment industry and a beneficiary of genuine creativity, it is more honourable to refrain from supporting the counterfeit fashion industry. Upholding authenticity is important to preserving our reputation as leaders within the Black community,” they wrote.
The post has sparked mixed reactions, with some fans defending AY while others emphasize the importance of promoting originality in fashion. The comedian is yet to respond to the claims.
