Veteran Nigerian actress Bukky Wright has finally addressed her prolonged absence from the movie industry, revealing that she stepped away to focus on raising her children.
In a recent interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Channels TV, the actress explained that she prioritized being present in her children’s lives, especially during crucial stages of their growth.
“There’s a time in a woman’s life and the children’s lives where they need you more than ever,” she stated. Bukky Wright, whose children live abroad, emphasized that she did not want to leave them in the care of just anyone. She also highlighted the sacrifices mothers make, including playing traditional roles like Omugwo, further stressing the deep responsibility of motherhood.
The actress acknowledged that while fathers play a vital role, the bond between a mother and her child remains unmatched. Quoting a Yoruba saying, she noted, “Iya ni iya mi, Baba ni baba gbogbo aye” meaning, “My mother is my mother, but a father can be a father to many.”
Reassuring her fans, Bukky Wright confirmed that she is back in Nollywood and eager to take on new projects, stating,
“I didn’t fall out of love with acting.”
Fans can now look forward to seeing her on screen again.
