Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has fled Nigeria following an alleged assassination attempt on his life. Fabiyi revealed this after his absence at the Coroner’s court hearing for the late singer Mohbad, and his failure to lead a planned protest at the Lagos State Assembly on Monday, September 30, 2024.
The actor had organized the protest to coincide with the resumption of the coroner’s investigation into Mohbad’s death. However, Fabiyi explained that his life was in danger after narrowly escaping an assassination attempt two days earlier.
In a video shared on his Instagram page and obtained by Naijassador, Fabiyi, who is currently in hiding, alleged that there was a plot to kill him because of his involvement in seeking justice for Mohbad. He stated, “I escaped an assassination two days ago, and they planned to kill me tonight. If they had succeeded, I would be buried tomorrow.”
He added that he fled the country without prior planning and is uncertain about his current location.
“I am just doing this for God, not for any personal gain,” he said, highlighting that his actions are driven by a sense of duty rather than personal benefit
