Police operatives in Lagos State have arrested an ex-convict, Yakub Yusuf, for allegedly ste@ling valve covers of old fire trucks at the Lagos State Fire Service premises.
The 23-year-old suspect was apprehended last Saturday evening, November 12, hours after he was released from jail.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Thursday, November 17, said the suspect was convicted for ste@ling at a government fuel dump in Alausa, Ikeja, and was sentenced to one-month imprisonment on November 1, 2022 with an option of fine.
Less than two weeks into his term, a non-governmental organization facilitated his release by paying the fine on Friday, November 11.
Yakub was arrested again after breaking into Lagos State Fire Service premises from where he st@le valve covers of old fire truck under repairs.
