Unholy crime: Catholic Nuns abducted by Gunmen in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of two Catholic nuns by unidentified gunmen along Ufuma Road in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued in Onitsha on Wednesday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that the incident occurred on Tuesday evening.

The nuns were reportedly returning from a vocational service meeting in Ogboji when they were intercepted.

Ikenga stated that a joint security operation is underway to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.

He further revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Nnaghe Itam, along with the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, visited the crime scene to conduct an on-the-spot assessment.

“The command is working on some leads to ensure the suspects are apprehended and the victims are safely rescued,” Ikenga assured.

He added that further updates would be provided as investigations progress. (NAN)
