Popular comedian, Seyi Law, has praised President Bola Tinubu, saying his administration rescued Nigeria from the brink of economic collapse.
Seyi Law made the remarks on Friday at the APC National Convention in Abuja, where he expressed strong confidence in the President’s leadership and economic reforms.
According to him, Tinubu took over at a time Nigeria’s financial situation was dire, but has since stabilised the economy.
“This is a man I am willing to stake everything for, because he brought Nigeria back from the brink of economic collapse when our net foreign reserve stood at barely one billion dollars,” he said.
“But today, we are talking about about 40 billion dollars in net reserves and over 50 billion dollars in gross reserves.”
The comedian also defended some of the administration’s most controversial policies, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market.
He said the decision to scrap fuel subsidy was a direct move against corruption.
“On the first day of his inauguration, he struck corruption by stopping the fuel subsidy regime,” he said.
Seyi Law added that the floating of the naira had helped align the official and black market exchange rates.
On education, he commended the government for reducing strikes in tertiary institutions and introducing student loan schemes.
According to him, the current administration has recorded one of the shortest strike periods, while also supporting students financially.
He noted that nearly one million students are already benefiting from loans, alongside a monthly stipend.
The entertainer also pointed to investments in technical education, saying some federal technical colleges now offer tuition-free education, with students receiving stipends.
He further highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway, as evidence of progress.
