He began his acting career as a secondary student. He joined a guild of actors that moved from place to place and staged theatrical performances. That was long before the advent of home videos and recorded performances.

He recalled that he usually sneaked into the village headmaster’s studios and developed an interest in professional acting. He had worked with the National Troupe of Nigeria for many years and was involved in several stage productions.

Before joining the Gospel Drama ministry in 2000, Doyin Hassan had featured in many secular movies and classic productions including “End Time” (1985), “Ti Oluwa Ni Ile” (1993), “Saworoide” (1999), “Arrows of God”, “Sango” (1997), etc.

His role in Mount Zion’s “The Wounded Heart” (2000) marked his transition to Gospel Drama. According to his testimony, God used Evangelist Mike Bamiloye who caught the vision ahead of him and set the tone of his ministry.

Doyin Hassan became a household name in Nigeria after his impressive role in Captives of the Mighty by Mount Zion.
