Afrobeats singer Skales has responded to criticism trailing his recent testimony at Harvesters Church, admitting that his initial reaction to the backlash may have been rushed but insisting that his message has now been properly clarified.

During the testimony, Skales recounted how his music career experienced renewed attention after his 2015 hit song “Shake Body” resurfaced online. He credited Barcelona teenage sensation Lamine Yamal for helping revive interest in the track, which he said reignited his passion and journey in music.

Following criticism on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), the singer acknowledged that he reacted too quickly to concerns raised about his testimony.

“I may have responded too quickly to the concerns raised about my crossover testimony at Harvesters Church. After sitting with it, I felt it was important to respond again — this time with more clarity and less emotion, for the sake of the Body of Christ,” Skales wrote.

He stressed that every believer has a purpose, whether operating from the pulpit or outside it, adding that a calling beyond church walls is not inferior but simply different.

Defending his position, Skales explained that professionals such as musicians, filmmakers, athletes, and teachers also serve God through their respective vocations. He cited 1 Corinthians 12:28, noting that sharing testimonies of God’s impact in one’s life should not be restricted to religious leaders alone.

Reaffirming his faith, the singer said he remains unapologetic about publicly acknowledging God’s role in his life and career.

“As children of the Lord, we all have our part to play. Those who believe in the Word but are not in the pulpit do not have a lesser calling, just a different assignment. I will never believe that testifying about what my God has done for me is wrong,” he stated.
