A fresh wave of political tension is building as activist King Joel Agho has issued a strong ultimatum demanding the immediate resignation of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joshua Ojo Amupitan.
According to Agho, the INEC boss must step down no later than Monday, April 13, 2025, by exactly 9:00 a.m. Failure to comply, he insists, should prompt swift action from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who he says must suspend the chairman by 10:30 a.m. the same day pending a full investigation into the allegations surrounding him.
In his words, Agho did not hold back:
“If by Monday, 13th of April, 2025, 9:00 a.m. on the dot, Professor Joshua Ojo Amupitan, does not tender his resignation… by 10:30 a.m. we expect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to suspend him… pending investigations and forensic analysis.”
He further emphasized his belief that the allegations are serious, while warning that failure to act would trigger massive resistance.
“We will mobilize the highest force of Nigerians around the world to draw attention to the nonsense happening in Nigeria. We will not sit back and allow taxpayers’ money to be used for a coronation.”
Agho added:
“We cannot allow sand to be poured into our eyes while we are inside water… Enough is enough. It’s time to stop talking and act.”
He concluded with a bold warning, stating that Nigerians should expect what he described as “the highest level of protest the country has ever witnessed” if authorities fail to respond.
As tensions rise, all eyes are now on both the presidency and INEC, with many Nigerians waiting to see what unfolds next.
