Belly chains are back, even and especially for baby bumps. Rihanna, unquestioned queen of maternity style, wore $2.67 million worth of diamonds, including on a chain around her middle, to an Oscars after-party.
As always, Rihanna skipped the VF bash for the annual Beyoncé–Jay-Z party at the Chateau Marmont, arriving in a sparkling bralette, matching skirt, and bubblegum pink jacket.
Page Six reports that Bayco provided the singer with her jewels, including a necklace, a ring, earrings, and the belly chain, which the outlet says is worth $1.8 million on its own and is made of “more than 139 carats of oval, round, and marquise rose-cut diamonds set in platinum.”
If we’re counting correctly, this sparkly ensemble was Rih’s fourth outfit of the night. On the red carpet the singer wore brown mesh and leather, then changed into a glittery top and pants for her performance (custom John Galliano for Maison Margiela) of the Oscar-nominated song “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Later on at some point, she wore mint green Bottega Veneta to pose backstage with boyfriend A$AP Rocky. Guess she’s making up for all the outfit changes she didn’t want to do at the Super Bowl.
While Rihanna may not have taken home a statuette that night (best original song went to “Naatu Naatu” from RRR, and honestly, we can’t really argue with that), she definitely won the best dressed competition. At the other end of the spectrum, Lady Gaga went from glam to makeup-free to sing that song (that I actually really like) from Top Gun: Maverick.
