Despite the recent ban by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), a video of Nigerians abroad vibing to Eedris Abdulkareem’s controversial song “Tell Your Papa” has surfaced online, sparking mixed reactions.

The NBC, in a memo dated April 9, 2025, signed by the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, classified the track as “Not To Be Broadcast” (NTBB) under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. The commission cited violations of public decency and deemed the song inappropriate for airplay on Nigerian radio and TV stations.

However, the ban has seemingly had little effect on Nigerians in the diaspora. In the now-viral video, a group of men can be seen dancing and singing along to the banned track, clearly enjoying themselves.

The clip has reignited debate around censorship and freedom of expression, as fans continue to show love for the veteran rapper’s bold lyrics, regardless of official disapproval.
