The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the 2025 admission deadline for public universities from October 31 to November 17.
The extension was announced on JAMB’s official X account, saying the move is to give universities more time to complete their admission processes.
JAMB explained that the extension became necessary after appeals by the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU) and the recent accreditation of new programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
“AVCNU requested more time following disruptions, including a court order that paused the 2025/2026 admission list, lifted only on October 28,” the statement said.
It added that the NUC recently accredited 229 programmes across 37 universities, and admission into these courses is now being scheduled.
JAMB thanked universities for working toward the original deadline and stressed that the new November 17 deadline is final. The Board reiterated its commitment to a fair and transparent admission process that supports national education goals and university autonomy.
