Veteran gospel singer Agnes Iroh has publicly criticized rapper Olamide for using a part of her song “Ladder” in his track “Our Lord Jesus” without seeking her consent.
In a viral video, Iroh expressed disappointment, stating that she had been unwell, which delayed her response to the matter.
She emphasized the effort she put into creating the song in the 90s and pleaded with Olamide to visit her and “do what is necessary.”
Sampling songs is not uncommon in the music industry. Nigerian artists like Simi, Tems and Burna Boy have previously used parts of older songs but ensured they sought proper permission. Fans are now waiting to see how Olamide will respond to Iroh’s request.
