Fayose Cries Out Over Ekiti’s N84bn Debt. Mr Ayo Fayose, the incoming governor of Ekiti State, on Tuesday evening, raised the alarm that the outgoing Dr Kayode Fayemi-led administration was bequeathing a debt profile of nearly N84 billion to his administration.
He lamented that the state was indebted to banks and other financial institutions till 2020.
According to him, “they took N31 billion in the first instance and paid about N10 billion and they took another N22 billion loan and the state is having N552 million monthly deficit and the repayment is till 2020.”
While reacting to a suit reportedly filed at a Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday by the APC and the E-11, which was intended to stop his inauguration today, he said “God’s will will prevail, no matter the circumstances.”
“Everything will work for good for me and the people of Ekiti State. In the case filed in Lagos today (Tuesday), we have found out their antics and I am confident that I would be inaugurated.” Fayose said.
He also alleged that his team was being frustrated by the Governor Fayemi, adding that he was not getting the support of the outgoing governor to ensure a hitch-free inauguration ceremony.
He pleaded with striking civil servants in the state to return to work, saying his government needed their support.
