Nollywood star Funke Akindele has made history with her latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, which has officially become the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time.
The film surpassed other notable Nollywood hits, including Toyin Abraham’s Alakada: Bad and Boujee, to achieve this remarkable milestone.
This groundbreaking achievement was announced by FilmOne, the distributor of the film, through an Instagram post that read:
“Everybody Loves Jenifa has officially reached a historic ₦1.466 billion and counting at the box office, making it the highest-grossing film of all time! A massive THANK YOU to our incredible audiences in Nigeria and Ghana for making this dream a reality! Your support means everything. On to even greater heights! Still showing in cinemas near you—experience the magic on the big screen.”
The film reached the ₦1 billion mark in less than two weeks.
This success further strengthens Akindele‘s position as a pioneer in Nollywood, following her record-breaking achievement last year with A Tribe Called Judah, the first Nollywood film to surpass the ₦1 billion threshold.
