Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has appealed to the Federal Government not ban flights from the United Kingdom in the wake of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
Many countries around the world have banned flights from coming in from the UK over the discovery of a new strain of COVID-19 in the country and this has led to calls from different quarters in Nigeria for the ban of flights from the European nation.
However, in a surprising move, the former lawmaker from Kaduna appealed for the imposition of quarantine measures for those traveling to and from the UK instead of a ban.
He explained that the UK not treating Nigerians badly during the peak of the pandemic as a reason for this appeal.
He wrote:
We should not ban flights to and from the UK;Unlike other countries, they have not treated our citizens badly at the peak of the Pandemic. We should simply enforce strict quarantine measures for those traveling to and from the UK.
