The United States has delivered military supplies to Nigeria in a move aimed at supporting the country’s ongoing security operations and reinforcing bilateral defence cooperation.

The delivery, which took place in Abuja on Tuesday, January 13, was confirmed in a statement shared via the official X handle of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), @USAfricaCommand.

According to the statement, the military equipment was provided to assist Nigerian security forces in addressing current operational needs, particularly amid persistent security challenges across parts of the country.

“This delivery supports Nigeria’s ongoing operations and emphasizes our shared security partnership,” the U.S. Mission said.

The development underscores continued collaboration between both countries on defence and security matters, as Nigeria grapples with insurgency, banditry, and other forms of violent crime.

The United States has remained a key security partner to Nigeria, offering military support, training, intelligence cooperation, and logistical assistance as part of efforts to enhance regional stability and combat terrorism.
