Renowned media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo has revealed the deeply personal journey that led to the creation of his popular show, WithChude.
In a heartfelt interview with filmmaker Mo Abudu ahead of his 40th birthday, Jideonwo shared how he battled clinical depression after facing intense backlash for his role as a media strategist in the 2015 presidential campaign of Muhammadu Buhari.
In 2017, he found himself trending on Twitter for three consecutive days due to criticism of his involvement in the election.
Overwhelmed and deeply hurt, he searched for answers online and stumbled upon an episode of Super Soul Sunday featuring Oprah Winfrey and Brené Brown. The discussion on handling criticism while remaining vulnerable resonated deeply with him, offering much-needed healing.
Inspired by that moment, Jideonwo resolved to create a platform that would provide similar healing and insight for Africans. This vision led to the launch of WithChude in 2020, a show that has since featured some of Nigeria’s most influential personalities, fostering open conversations on life, struggles, and personal growth.
Jideonwo’s journey is a testament to resilience, transformation, and the power of storytelling to inspire and heal others.
