Osun governor, Ademola Adeleke resigned from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP well ahead of the November 16, 2025 national convention of the party held in Ibadan, Oyo State, it has been revealed.
The Governor’s resignation letter was shared on social media by his aide, Olawale Rasheed late Monday evening.
The letter showed that Adeleke has resigned from the PDP since 4th November, 2025.
The governor addressed his resignation letter to the PDP Chairman of his ward 2, Sagba Abogunde of Ede North Local government, Osun State.
Adeleke cited the crisis at the national level of PDP as reason for his resignation.
The letter reads as follows: “Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect.
“I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (Represented Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State under the People’s Democratic Party”, the governor noted in the letter personally signed by him.
Adeleke’s resignation letter came to light following controversies over the primary for the Osun 2026 governorship election scheduled to hold today, Tuesday, 2 December.
The Osun chapter of PDP had on Tuesday announced postponement of the primary over the crisis and factionalisation of the party at the national level. However, the National Working Committee of the party elected at the November 16 convention had insisted that the primary will go on, though Adeleke was the only aspirant known to have bought the ticket.
Already, there are speculations that Adeleke has already decided to seek for second term on the platform of Accord political party.
Some of the aides of the governor have reportedly taken over Accord party in Osun State.
Recall that attempts by Adeleke to join the All Progressives Congress, APC some months ago was frustrated by leadership of the party in the state.
