Early Life

Michael Collins Ajereh popularly known as Don Jazzy was born on November 26, 1982, in Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria. He is the son of Collins Enebeli Ajereh and Mrs Ajereh. While his father is from Isoko in Delta State, his mother is an Igbo princess from Abia State. When Don Jazzy was young, his family moved to Ajegunle in Lagos state and he was raised there.

He began to play the bass guitar and piano at this age. While he was honing his musical talents, he also gained knowledge of traditional and percussion instruments. Don Jazzy obtained a degree in business management at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo state.


In 2000, Jazzy’s uncle invited the young man to play the drums for a local church in London and that was his first visit to London. Following his stay in London, Don Jazzy worked as a security guard at McDonald’s. He continued his interest in music, associating with Solek, JJC Skillz, Kas, Jesse Jagz, The 419 Squad, and D’Banj.

Don Jazzy was previously married to Michelle Jackson in 2003, although the marriage lasted briefly. The music producer noted that the marriage did not last because he and his ex-wife both had different ambitions that were in the way of their union. After only two years together the couple divorced. Don Jazzy fears that his love for music is bigger than any commitment and he isn’t ready to go through that path again.

According to Naijassador, Don Jazzy is a staunch member of the Cherubim and Seraphim church and this came as a surprise to many of his fans. The music producer was honored by the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim & Seraphim church worldwide in 2023.
