Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has revealed that he almost lost his position during the Lagos State House of Assembly leadership crisis involving former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
Speaking while declaring support for APC aspirant Bakare Barakat, Gbajabiamila alleged that Desmond Elliot was linked to moves surrounding Obasa’s impeachment saga, a situation he said nearly put him at odds with President Bola Tinubu.
According to him, Tinubu had contacted him over intelligence reports implicating Desmond Elliot in the political tension rocking the Assembly and asked that he intervene immediately.
Gbajabiamila said the issue later escalated to the point where his own name was repeatedly mentioned in the controversy, adding that only his long-standing relationship with the President saved his position as Chief of Staff.
