The All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed that its presidential primary election for the 2027 general elections will hold on May 23, 2026, refuting claims that the exercise has been postponed.

In a statement released on Wednesday by Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the APC clarified that reports circulating on social media and other platforms regarding changes to the primary election timetable were false and misleading.

The party also provided the full schedule for its other primary elections:

House of Representatives: May 15, 2026
Senate: May 18, 2026
State House of Assembly: May 20, 2026
Governorship: May 21, 2026
Presidential: May 23, 2026

The APC also began screening incumbent governors ahead of the elections, with a number of state leaders undergoing the process, including Abba Yusuf of Kano, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, and Hyacinth Alia of Benue.

Other governors screened by the committee were Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Umar Bago of Niger, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Bassey Otu of Cross River, and Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto.

The APC’s announcement has laid to rest speculations surrounding its primary election schedule as the party moves forward with preparations for the 2027 general elections.
