Nollywood actor Richard Oguntimehin, popularly known as Don Richard, has addressed recent death rumours with a video posted on his Instagram, showing him dancing joyfully to music and reassuring fans that he is alive.
In the video, Richard expressed gratitude to his followers for their concern, but criticised bloggers for spreading unverified reports. “My fans and friends, I really appreciate you all. You all will not fall, I dey alive ooo. The bloggers should continue their bad posting, God will judge all of them, amen,” he wrote in the caption.
The video was a direct response to the rumours circulating about his death. Despite the light-hearted nature of the post, the rumours had created concern among fans, with many anxious about his well-being.
In a 2025 interview, Richard opened up about a significant health battle that began with a spinal cord injury.
The injury led to the discovery of complications, including an enlarged bladder and kidney issues. He described how his health struggles began: “I had just anchored a show and was resting when, around 1:05 am, it felt like someone was nailing my spinal cord. I managed to walk, and after a check-up, I was told my bladder was enlarging and my kidneys were having issues.”
Richard also revealed his decision to stop drinking alcohol and smoking as part of his efforts to improve his health. “For two years now, I have stopped taking anything that has to do with alcohol. I don’t take soft drinks. I only drink water,” he said.
The actor had previously appealed for N50 million in financial assistance to help manage his kidney disease. At the time, he disclosed that the funds were needed to help treat the severe condition that had affected his health.
